The current BMFA format has been in place for a number of years and has gradually evolved to where we are today. The RCHA intends to have its own achievement scheme in due course and we could in theory develop one similar to the BMFA's or look at this as an opportunity to develop something new. One area that I'm interested in is the possibility of opening up a third level of proficiency for example under a 'B' cert this is considered the level required to be able to do competitions or display flying. However, if you look at the 'B' schedule does it really touch the skills required for this level? In my opinion it doesn't - yes the focus should equally be on safety as much as skills, but at competition level the skills required generally include forward and backwards inverted flight, auto-rotations, controlled pirouetting manoeuvres such as the piro flip. So give us your thoughts and opinions please.
