3D Championship Grassroots

Last weekend (12th June) the 3D Championship Grassroots competition was held at the fantastic Milton Keynes flying club. The competition comprised of two rounds, firstly five set manouvers followed by a 3 minute freestyle flight. Each round was flown before 3 judges who scored the manouvers / freestyle out of 1000 points. At the end of qualifying 9yr old Alex was in first place with 1991 points out of a possible 2000. The final was between the top five pilots who had to refly the two rounds and the winner was decided on points. Unfortunatly, Alex was pipped at the post by 'Pedro' Peter Gray by just 32 points but gained a well deserved 2nd place. Alex was so pleased and proud of his efforts that he has entered the Park Hall 3D competition in August. Good Luck Alex from mum, dad and all the members of OMHC. 11yr old Brandon also entered the competition but a combination of nerves and gusty wind conditions didn't favour his flying style. Bad luck Brandon but better luck next year.

Guinness World Record Attempt - Newark FlyersThe local Newark advertiser wants to run a story prior to the RCHA Flyin on those flyers from Newark area attending the Guinness World Record Attempt.  The Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance have also confirmed they will be attending the event with there MD 902 Explorer helicopter.  With all proceeds from the raffle going to the air ambulance. So the scale chaps can see up real the latest generation of air ambulance transport.  The Newark Advertiser aims to be at the event also giving a cracking opportunity for local flyers to raise the profile of there clubs in the area to give the potential new flyers who watch the event a local club to join and get some sound advice and assistance.  So if your a local Newark flyer attending the event then pls PM me, I'll be sending out a mailer also to those that have confirmed they wish to attend the event.  Remember if you want to take part in the world record attempt then you must fill out the form.

RCHA - Update

Apologies for the intrusion but with so many things on the go - I'm mindful that many clubs will be wondering if the RCHA will be offering a club pack this coming year.

In short - Yes, this is the plan with  10m cover for members also.

We have secured recognition from Ofcom, CAA and UKRCC we intend to join various other bodies and affiliations ourselves in 2011.

So far, we've provided members with info from the CAA directly on there questions and we've pointed a new club in the direction of potential funding for there prospective farmer landlord to potentially gain support for renting out his land to a club.  We've enlisted the help of well established rc heli teaching school to build a whole new achievement scheme - built by those who teach every day and know exactly how beginners need coaching and the pro's and cons of the current scheme in a daily operational environment.  We've started our virtual media family that are already being used to help launch our first Fly'in that also is the venue for a Guinness World Record attempt. For which we've issued Press Releases to every local newspaper and tv station and we have also local filming interest from within the community.  This event is primarly a fun event, but if BMFA figures are true our hobby is shrinking and we need to be far more pro-active at shouting about our hobby externally. This is why the RCHA has pro-actively marketed the event to the public to raise our profile, we need to stop looking inwards so much and step outside of the box and see the bigger picture.  The boy, girl, mam or dad who buys a CX2 following seeing an event such as RCHA will in 12mths have a 450/.30 or .50 they will need the like of the RcHeliAddict forum and clubs around the UK to help them on there journey and gain the rewards and enjoyment that we all gain every weekend.

Written by RSHA
Monday, 17 May 2010 19:11

RCHA is pleased to annouce the first in a long line of record attempts to highlight the fantastic enjoyment, fun and challenges that our hobby delivers to its members every day. Due to the length of time its taken to gain approval from the Guinness World Records for the attempt the RCHA flyin will be put back till the 18th & 19th September 2010.

The World record attempt will be on Sunday 19th September, all pilots are encouraged to take part as we are sure once secured many other countries will aim to break the various records we set year on year. Other records being looked at are : "The Most RC Helicopters Inverted Simultaneously", "Longest Distance flown in either electric, Nitro and Gassers" and the "Heaviest weight carried by an rc helicopter". We feel these challenges will help to push our hobby outside into the greater public audience and give us the opportunity to show just how enjoyable our hobby can be
